Oil Burners

Essential oils can be dispersed in so many ways that it is possible to have them in your life at all times. The oil burner is the most basic method of essential oil dispersion - but it is certainly not the only method. A tea light candle or a heat source is put under a small bowl of water containing a few drops of your chosen essential oil. As the water heats up, the essence of the oil is dispersed into the air. There are two basic types of oil burners - candle oil burners and electric oil burners.

Tealight candle oil burners come in as many shapes, colours and styles that you can possibly imagine. They range in price from only a few dollars to many dollars. The cheapest tealight candle oil burners can be purchased at $2.00 shops around the place. If this is your very first introduction to aromatherapy, then I suggest that you start small and then upgrade when you discover that you can't live without essential oils burning in your house day and night.

If you go with the tealight candle oil burner option, then you will need some tea light candles to put under the bowl. A simple rule of thumb with candles is to ensure that the wick is red. Often tea light candles purchased at bargain shops are a hit and miss affair. They rarely last more than a few minutes before the wick wilts and the candle is useless. When it comes to tealight candles, buy quality not quantity.

Electric oil burners are my preference. It is safer to have an electric oil burner on all day and night than it is to have candles burning unsupervised. Electric oil burners are more expensive to purchase up front, but then you do not need a constant supply of candles to enjoy the aromatherapy.

To enjoy aromatherapy using an oil burner, simply light the candle and place it under the water bowl or turn on the electric oil burner. Fill the bowl with water and add a few drops of your favorite essential oil. In no time, and for a small initial outlay, you can enjoy aromatherapy around your house or office.

Happy Blending,
Christina
