Add and Delete Your Own Data
The Data Management component of SASSI
enables the user to have complete control over data in the database.
This means that the user can add, edit or delete any of the existing
data and customise it to suit their clients needs and range of essential
oils. For students of Aromatherapy, this tool provides the foundation
for amalgamating all the information that is taught in college.
The Data Management component is made
up of four sections that manage essential oil, carrier oil, contrindication,
and theraputic benefit data.
1. Essential Oil Data Management
The Essential oil data management section
allows you to:
* Add an essential oil to the database.
* Link and unlink an essential oil to a therapeutic benefit.
* Link and unlink an essential oil to a contraindication.
* Edit an existing essential oil in the database.
* Completely delete an essential oil from the database.
Since there are often several different
origins and species of plants used in creating essential oils this
component also allows the user to specify which contraindications
and therapeutic benefits to associate with each oil.
An essential oil that is not linked
to any therapeutic benefits will not appear in the selection wizard.
Any therapeutic benefit that is in the selected benefits box for a
specific oil will be used by the selection wizard. If a required therapeutic
benefit does not already exist in the database, then add it in the
Therapeutic Benefits section.
If an essential oil is contraindicated
for an ailment, then the essential oil needs to be linked to the relevant
contraindication in this section so that the selection wizard can
provide accurate and safe results. If the contraindication does not
already exist in the database, then add it in the Contraindication
section.
2. Carrier Oil Data Management
The Carrier oil data management section
allows you to:
* Add a carrier oil to the database.
* Edit an existing carrier oil in the database.
* Completely delete a carrier oil from the database.
3. Contraindication Data Management
The contraindication data management
section allows you to:
* Add a contraindication to the database.
* Edit an existing contraindication in the database.
* Completely delete a contraindication from the database.
Some ailments contraindicate some essential
oils from use. For example, if someone was pregnant, they would not
use Rosemary essential oil. However, an essential oil such as peppermint
may not be contraindicated for a particular ailment, but it is important
to remember that it should only ever be used in small dilution's.
Therefore, the program differentiates between contraindications where
an oil cannot be used, and a warning about the use of an oil.
If a contraindication is deleted from
the program, all links between essential oils and deleted contraindication
will no longer be available. Use this function sparingly and only
if the contraindication is no longer linked to any data.
4. Therapeutic Benefit Data Management
The therapeutic benefits data management
section allows you to:
* Add a therapeutic benefit to the
database.
* Edit an existing therapeutic benefit in the database.
* Completely delete a therapeutic benefit from the database.
If a therapeutic benefit is deleted
from the program, all links between essential oils and deleted therapeutic
benefit will no longer be available. Use this function sparingly and
only if the therapeutic benefit is no longer linked to any data.
