Costing and Stock Maintenance
Stock maintenance has several purposes
in SASSI. Firstly, it is used to
maintain a register of essential oils and carrier oils that you have
purchased and are available for use.
Secondly, when you have an established
list of essential oils and carrier oils, it provides the facility
to input the cost of a bottle of oil. The program then calculates
a cost per drop for essential oils and a cost per ml for carrier oils.
Thirdly, the cost per measure is used
to provide the groundwork for more useful day to day costing facilities.
The costings provided by stock maintenance are used in the Create
Your Own Blend report to calculate the cost of the blend that has
been created.
The purpose of the update essential
oil section is to twofold. It is to allow both the user and the selection
wizard to keep track of which essential oils are available for use,
and also to assist in calculating the cost per drop of available essential
oils, and the cost of an oil blend.
The selection wizard calculates the
cost per drop based on the size of the bottle entered and the cost
of the bottle, based on a ratio of 20 drops of essential oil per ml.
The wizard then uses the information
supplied in this section in two ways. On the first page of the selection
wizard there is a question asking if you want to use only oils on
hand. If you say yes to this question, the selection wizard will use
essential oils that have been selected and are in the Oils in Stock
section. If you say no to this question, the selection wizard will
use all of the essential oils in the program. This distinction was
necessary because in some instances the user may want to see a result
to be able to make a blend for use with essential oils that are available.
In other instances the user may want to know which essential oils
to purchase to alleviate a particular ailment. Both results are valid
and this option should be used in the wizard according to the desired
result.
Where costing information is supplied,
it will be used in the create your own blend section to calculate
the cost of the essential oil blend. Where no information is available,
$0.00 will be used.
The purpose of the update carrier oil
section is to allow the user to keep a track of which carrier oils
are available for use and also to cost the available carrier oils.
The wizard then uses the information
supplied in this section in two ways. On the first page of the selection
wizard there is a question asking you to select a carrier oil. The
wizard uses this information in the create your own blend section
to help calculate an accurate cost of the essential oil blend if information
is available.
Also on the first page of the wizard
is a question asking you to select how many mls of carrier oil will
be used. This enables the wizard to determine how many drops to use
in the essential oil blend.
